| Summary Story opens with Yuto walking through the park at night. He meets Satsuki in front of a large fountain. He apologizes for being late and gives her a cute little watch. As he and Satsuki watch the water flow in the fountain, they talk about the end of Tokyo and of earth. Satsuki asks Yuto if he has anyone that will mourn for him but he doesn't really answer the question. She then asks why he joined up with Kanoe and the other DoE and he says that he follows his destiny like a current and hopes what he finds at the end might be interesting. Then the two of them leave to go have dinner together. As they walk away, a jealous Beast watches them closely through its lenses/cameras. At the DoH house, Sorata is lying in bed staring blankly out the window. In the hallway, the other DoH watch him through the doorway. Yuzuriha remarks that he has been like that since Arashi disappeared and she doesn't understand why Arashi left if she loved Sorata. Kamui says Sorata has always looked out for him and now he will do the same for Sorata. Outside, Karen and Aoki talk. Karen suggests that Arashi might have decided to avoid Sorata as a form of love. Aoki doesn't understand what she means, so she explains that even though Aoki loves his wife and daughter, he filed for divorce against his own feelings in order to keep them from being involved in the fight with the DoE. She said this is just what she thinks and then admits to being a little jealous of Aoki's family. She then looks embarrassed and quickly apologizes for saying such a thing. Aoki says it's okay and that they should be more concerned about Arashi and Sorata because they are still so young. Karen agrees and says they must do something. Aoki becomes concerned that Karen will try to take care of things all by herself again. Karen smiles at him and tells him not to worry, she won't overdo it. Aoki looks very relieved to hear this. Satsuki is sitting inside Beast. She looks at the watch Yuuto gave her and smiles. Beast pokes some wires into her neck and arms, more forcefully than usual, and she complains that it hurts and tells Beast to let her go, which it does. Konoe walks in and remarks that Beast doesn't seem to be feeling well and thinks it is jealous of Yuto. She then goes on to tell Satsuki of how she met Yuto. Karen is praying in front of the church alter. She quotes a bible verse then stands and says to herself the she is sorry she won't be able to keep her promise to Aoki. Aoki is leaving work for the day and he grabs a photograph of his family and places it in his suit pocket. Yuto walks towards the train station. Karen is following him. When he boards the subway, she gets on too. He then jumps out of the subway car and into another one going the opposite direction before Karen can follow him. He smiles and waves to her from inside the subway car as it takes off while Karen looks on angrily. Inside the train, Yuto notices Aoki reading the paper. He smiles at the irony and remarks that he has gone out of the frying pan and into the fire. He then sits down besides Aoki. They talk pleasantly for a few moments then exit the train together. Yuto tells Aoki his powers are impressive. Aoki replies that this is because he has people he wishes to protect and that makes him stronger. Yuto says it's not always like that and brings up Saiki's death. This brings an end to the exchange of pleasantries and Aoki creates a kekkai and the fight begins. Satuki is having tea with Kanoe and senses the kekkai being formed. She is worried about Yuto. Yuto and Aoki are on top of a building fighting. Aoki slices Yuto in half with a wind blade but Yuto is hard to kill. He turns to water and reforms; whole once more. Satsuki is now inside Beast and has located the battle on top of the building. Satsuki tells Beast to hurry, which results in Beast forcefully pushing wires into Satsuki again. On the roof of the building, Aoki has the upper hand until Beast sends a bunch of cables to wrap around him and slam him down through several floors of the building. Yuto thanks Satsuki and walks over to the edge of the hole and looks down. Aoki is held there, suspended by wires, looking bloody and battered but still alive. Yuto forms a cone of water in his hand and is about to finish Aoki off when a ball of fire disperses the cone and burns Yuto's fingers. Karen has arrived on the scene and she is MAD. Yuto and Karen start to fight while Aoki, still entangled in Beasts cables, worries about Karen's safety. Satsuki pleads with Beast to help Yuto again. Karen and Yuto are pretty evenly matched and the combination of fire and water has created a lot of steam, making it hard to see one another. Yuto asks Karen why she is so determined to fight, then figures out that she must be in love with Aoki. He tells her that Aoki already has a wife and child, but then says that Aoki filed for divorce and asks Karen if that's good. Karen says that is not what she wishes for and quotes the bible verse she said early when she was praying "When one grain falls towards the Earth and dies, its roots will grow and link with others". Yuto doesn't understand. Karen tells him it comes from the book of Revelation and means that one should sacrifice your own life for someone precious so that they may live on in the world. She then traps Yuto in a column of fire and burns him alive as he screams in agony. Satsuki pleads with Beast to save Yuto but Beast does nothing. Karen runs to the hole to check on Aoki. Yuto reforms himself (Terminator style) from a puddle of water on the roof. He grabs Karen from behind and holds his blade to her throat as Aoki pleads with her to run away. Yuto holds onto Karen and starts to drown her in a column of water as he mocks her for not being able to protect anyone after all. This really angers Karen and she grabs her cross tightly and forms a HUGE fire ball that engulfs them both. Satsuki screams Yuto's name and tries untangle herself from Beast but it doesn't want to let go of her. She rips free of the wires, but more grab her. Aoki gets free from the cables and runs to Karen, who is lying on the roof of the building. He supports her in his arms and calls her name trying to wake her. She opens her eyes and asks Aoki if he is all right. He says he is thanks to her and this makes Karen happy. She tells him that a nice father like him can't die and that she is truly happy to have protected him. She dies as Aoki holds her and cries. Konoe walks into the room where Beast is kept and sees a lifeless Satsuki lying inside Beast. She is wrapped tightly in Beast's cables with lots of wires plunged deeply into her body. A severely injured Yuto makes it to the fountain where he and Satsuki had met earlier. He dies while propped up against it. |
